CLP HOLDINGS, a global leader in water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment and integrated hydrogen energy solutions, continues to drive innovation and industrial application of green hydrogen technology through its strong technical expertise, forward-looking strategies, and extensive international collaborations.
In 2025, CLP HOLDINGS took a significant step in its global expansion by partnering with the Green Electrode Consortium International (GECI) to establish a Middle East electrolyzer company, headquartered in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. This move not only deepens its globalization strategy but also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the broader hydrogen energy development plans in the Middle East.
With over 18 years of industry experience, CLP HOLDINGS’ water electrolysis technology covers three major pathways—ALK, PEM, and AEM—all of which have achieved commercial application. To date, the company has delivered more than 300 units across 30 countries, spanning diverse environments from deserts to polar regions.
The newly established Middle East electrolyzer company will focus on technology transfer, R&D, and production, collaborating with local universities and research institutions to cultivate Saudi talent and enhance regional industrial capabilities.
In Latin America, CLP HOLDINGS has made notable progress. Chile, with its abundant wind, solar, and hydropower resources, is recognized as a potential hub for low-cost green hydrogen production. Earlier this year, CLP HOLDINGS unveiled plans for the Biobio green hydrogen plant, adopting a "produce locally, use locally" model to reduce transportation costs and serve the Chilean and South American markets. The project, supported by Chile’s Economic Development Agency (Corfo), won a competitive tender with the highest score. The plant will introduce advanced electrolyzer technology, becoming one of South America’s largest production facilities.
In August, CLP HOLDINGS’ 500KW anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzer project, developed with a Spanish partner, was selected as a flagship case in the first China-EU energy cooperation initiative by China’s National Energy Administration. AEM technology, known for its efficiency and environmental benefits, reduces reliance on precious metals and opens new pathways for large-scale green hydrogen production.
Further strengthening its market competitiveness, CLP HOLDINGS signed a framework agreement with Robert Bosch GmbH in July to integrate Bosch’s Hybrion PEM electrolyzers into its large-scale PEM hydrogen production systems. This collaboration will focus on delivering projects exceeding 1MW to meet global demand for flexible, scalable hydrogen solutions.
This year, CLP HOLDINGS has secured orders exceeding 100MW across 18 projects, with overseas business accounting for 60%. Alkaline electrolyzers remain the primary sales driver (90%), but PEM and AEM technologies are gaining traction. The company anticipates alkaline electrolyzers will dominate large-scale applications in the next five years due to cost advantages, while PEM will suit renewable hydrogen and off-grid scenarios. AEM technology is expected to mature post-2028, potentially complementing or replacing existing solutions.
CLP HOLDINGS’ Shandong facility currently boasts 2GW capacity, with expansion potential. Overseas projects include a 500MW alkaline electrolyzer assembly line in Chile, a 500MW licensed plant in India, a planned 1GW production line in Saudi Arabia, and a 500MW plant in Portugal backed by €3.5 million in government funding. Combined, these projects represent ~5GW in global capacity.
Moving forward, CLP HOLDINGS will continue to prioritize technological innovation, global expansion, and diversified partnerships to accelerate green hydrogen development and support global decarbonization efforts.
