SHFE Adjusts Trading Margin Ratios and Price Limits for Copper and Other Futures Contracts

The Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) has issued a notice announcing adjustments to trading margin requirements and daily price fluctuation limits, effective from the close of settlement on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

For listed copper futures contracts, the daily price limit will be adjusted to 8%. The trading margin ratio for hedging positions will be set at 9%, while the ratio for general positions will be 10%.

For listed aluminum futures contracts, the daily price limit will be adjusted to 8%. The trading margin ratio for hedging positions will be set at 9%, and the ratio for general positions will be 10%.

For gold futures contracts AU2602, AU2603, and AU2604, the daily price limit will be adjusted to 16%. The trading margin ratio for hedging positions will be 17%, and for general positions, it will be 18%.

For gold futures contracts AU2606, AU2608, AU2610, AU2612, and AU2702, the daily price limit will be adjusted to 15%. The trading margin ratio for hedging positions will be 16%, and for general positions, it will be 17%.

For silver futures contracts AG2602, AG2603, and AG2604, the daily price limit will be adjusted to 17%. The trading margin ratio for hedging positions will be 18%, and for general positions, it will be 19%.

For silver futures contracts AG2605, AG2606, AG2607, AG2608, AG2609, AG2610, AG2611, AG2612, and AG2701, the daily price limit will be adjusted to 15%. The trading margin ratio for hedging positions will be 16%, and for general positions, it will be 17%.
