US stock market movers: Optical communication stocks gain early session, AAOI surges over 7%

Stock News08-10 21:50

Optical communication stocks rallied in early trading on Monday, driven by strong earnings results from Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI.US), which surged over 7%. Marvell Technology (MRVL.US) rose nearly 5%, Credo Technology (CRDO.US) gained close to 4%, and POET Technology (POET.US) advanced nearly 2%.

The momentum follows Applied Optoelectronics' release of robust fiscal 2026 second-quarter results. Management described the quarter as a key inflection point, as the company returned to Non-GAAP profitability, driven by record revenue growth. The company stated that demand related to AI infrastructure remains strong, and it repeatedly emphasized that demand for 800G and the upcoming 1.6T products is exceeding current production capacity.

The third-quarter guidance points to a significant sequential increase in both revenue and earnings. Analysts highlight that AAOI results met expectations, with capacity guidance again revised upward. Optical interconnect technologies, centered on CPO and NPO, are entering a commercial deployment cycle, unlocking a new incremental market. The value contribution of optical connectivity within AI computing clusters is expected to continue rising.
