Recently, reports claiming that "all 50 first-year students at Fuyao University of Science and Technology have already been snapped up by companies" have attracted significant attention. On January 22, the university's President, Wang Shuguo, responded, stating, "If you mean that the students' employment destinations have been completely finalized this early, we haven't been thinking along those lines. Undergraduate education is not our ultimate training goal; we aim to cultivate these young individuals into master's and doctoral graduates, into outstanding innovative talents."

According to media reports, Liu Shuwei, a researcher at the Chinese Enterprise Research Center of the Central University of Finance and Economics, recently stated at a forum that the first cohort of 50 students at Fuyao University of Science and Technology, in addition to their basic coursework, have already begun participating in research projects at major companies. Liu Shuwei mentioned that due to the influence of President Wang Shuguo and Mr. Cao Dewang, major companies sought cooperation with the university as soon as it opened, resulting in a high number of collaborative projects. Consequently, all 50 students have reportedly been pre-booked by these major firms.

"To say it's settled could be considered correct because so many companies have come, and each one tells us how excellent our students are. From that perspective, Professor Liu's statement is not wrong. However, if the implication is that the students' future employment is completely finalized this early, that is not our focus," Wang Shuguo pointed out. He emphasized that the university's goal is not merely to produce undergraduates but to cultivate the students into master's and PhD holders, into卓越的创新人才 (zhuóyuè de chuàngxīn réncái, outstanding innovative talents). "As for which 'large ship' the students will board in the future, that is a choice they need to make for themselves."

Wang Shuguo also mentioned that against the backdrop of widespread employment anxiety, it is understandable that the public is paying close attention to the university. At the same time, he noted, people should already recognize that the process of cultivating top-tier innovative talent is extremely arduous and not something achieved easily. "It's not as simple as taking a couple of tours around a factory to become a top innovative talent."

Regarding the enrollment scale for the new academic year, Wang Shuguo indicated that the specific number still awaits approval from the Ministry of Education. "It will definitely be more than 50 students," he confirmed.
