6.01 Billion Yuan Investment: Hunan Unveils Ten Key Livelihood Projects Directly Impacting Citizens

Deep News02-03

The Hunan Provincial Two Sessions have arrived, and what residents most want to know is: what tangible changes can we expect in our lives in the new year? The answer lies within the substantial government work report. Starting today, we launch the "Livelihood Jigsaw" series to help you understand the report's contents directly relevant to everyone. In this first installment, we piece together this crucial part—the Ten Key Livelihood Projects. This represents a "pledge" valued at 6.01 billion yuan. By 2026, Hunan will continue to implement these ten key projects, encompassing 23 specific initiatives—11 new and 12 continuing—with the goal of achieving a warm "Ten Haves." These are not just slogans; each represents anticipated, deliverable benefits for the people. Let's highlight a few high-impact, highly-concerned items: First, matters concerning children's education. The report proposes to add 80,000 public senior high school places, upgrade 1,000 primary and secondary school canteens, and construct an additional 300,000 square meters of dormitories for provincial universities. In short: ensuring children have access to good schools, nutritious meals, and proper accommodation. Second, issues related to employment. The province aims not only to meet the target of creating 700,000 new urban jobs but also to provide vocational skills training for 1 million person-times under the "Skills Revitalizing Hunan, One Skill Per Person" initiative and disburse 6.2 billion yuan in startup guarantee loans, helping people find jobs, enhance skills, and venture into entrepreneurship. Third, elderly care for our parents. Plans include constructing 2,000 "Time Guardian" care beds and establishing 25 dementia-friendly communities for seniors, offering more considerate support. Fourth, enhancing daily convenience. Initiatives include building 1,000 new "Care Stations" for outdoor workers like delivery riders; implementing mobile supply and marketing convenience services to ensure at least 1,600 rural service points; and constructing 4,700 new rural 4G and 5G base stations to achieve comprehensive coverage of care and connectivity. From children's desks and our workplaces to our parents' golden years and warmth on street corners, the Ten Key Livelihood Projects precisely target the issues closest to our hearts. Of course, people's livelihoods form a vast panorama. Beyond this specific "project list," the government work report outlines a series of additional measures in employment, education, healthcare, and social security.
