CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore Partner on Argentine FLNG Installation and Hook-up Project

Deep News04-14

CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore have announced the award of a significant contract to execute the transport and installation of a "soft yoke mooring system" and the connection of two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) units, the Hilli Episeyo and the MKII, in Argentina's San Matías Gulf. Securing this contract represents a milestone for both companies and, with Argentina's growing export capacity, a breakthrough project for the nation's natural gas sector.

The contract was granted by Southern Energy S.A. and is backed by an international consortium comprising Pan American Energy, YPF, Pampa Energía, Harbour Energy, and Golar LNG.

**Integrated Project Delivery**

CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore will deliver the project through a fully integrated execution model, covering project management, engineering design, transport, offshore installation, and hook-up.

As the main contractor, CoreMarine will subcontract Jumbo Offshore for the transport and installation of the soft yoke mooring system, which includes heavy lift and piling operations. Jumbo Offshore is a globally recognized expert in soft yoke installation, with extensive experience deploying such systems in Brazil and Cameroon. Subsequently, CoreMarine will conduct diving and construction activities, including pipeline spool installation, ballasting, riser connection, pre-commissioning, and the positioning and connection of the two FLNG units.

Offshore operations will involve complex simultaneous activities, including heavy lifting, riser installation, piling, pipeline spool installation, saturation diving, and multi-vessel synchronization. The project will require the charter of various assets, including diving support vessels, support vessels, and anchor handling tugs.

The soft yoke system, supplied by NOV, will enable the two FLNG units to weathervane around a single mooring point, aligning with natural environmental forces. This provides a robust and cost-effective solution, eliminating the need for fixed infrastructure such as jetties.

Both CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore initiated project management and engineering design work in January 2026. The Hilli Episeyo FLNG is scheduled for installation in 2027, followed by the MKII FLNG in 2028, marking the first application of soft yoke technology in Argentine waters.

This project represents CoreMarine's first FLNG development and largest contract in Latin America, while further cementing Jumbo Offshore's track record in soft yoke installation and floating energy infrastructure.
