The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day, also known as Hong Kong Return Day or Hong Kong Reunification Day, is observed annually on July 1 and is a statutory holiday in Hong Kong.

On July 1, 1997, the Government of the People’s Republic of China resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong, leading to the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This marked the end of more than 150 years of British colonial rule. The date has since been designated as an official commemorative day.
