Authorities from Dingri County in Shigatse City announced that due to heavy snowfall in scenic spots within Dingri County, road sections in tourist destinations including Mount Everest Scenic Area, Rongxar Valley, Gama Valley, and Cho Oyu Peak have experienced snow accumulation and icing, with low visibility creating unsafe travel conditions. To maximize the safety of tourists, Dingri County has implemented temporary closures of the aforementioned tourist destinations starting October 5th, suspending public access.
Currently, local government has organized immigration officials, police officers, medical personnel, militia, and local residents to conduct road maintenance and clearance operations.
It was reported that snowfall on the night of October 4th affected some tourists who were trekking in the Gama Valley area of Qudang Town in Dingri County. Sources from the Qudang Town Party Committee, government, and accompanying guides indicated that the Dingri County Party Committee and government attached great importance to the situation, organizing relevant forces overnight to conduct contact, reception, and service guarantee work in the affected area. According to on-site feedback, supplies are sufficient and personnel are safe.
