China Everbright Bank: Two-Pronged Approach to Keep Net Interest Margin on an Improving Trend

Deep News17:40

On October 30, a financial frontline report said that China Everbright Bank Company Limited (ASX: 601818) held its third-quarter 2026 results briefing today.

Speaking about interest margins, Zhu Qinyu, general manager of the Asset-Liability Management Department, said that since the start of this year, the bank has continued to promote high-quality development across all businesses, and its net interest margin in the third quarter has maintained a trend of stabilizing and recovering.

Among these, asset business yields declined somewhat in line with market interest rate movements, but liability cost improvements were greater.

Zhu Qinyu further stated that going forward, the bank will promote a favorable trend in net interest margin from two aspects: pushing liability costs downward and stabilizing asset yields.

On the liability side, the bank will continue to push deposit cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency enhancement, raise customer service levels, take multiple measures to do a good job in absorbing source funds, intensify efforts to optimize the deposit structure, and promote a stable decline in deposit costs.

At the same time, in response to changes in business structure, it will enhance comprehensive service capabilities for interbank clients, continue to do a good job in absorbing settlement-type interbank deposits, and lower overall liability costs.

On the asset side, the bank will continue to increase support for major national strategies, key areas, and weak links, expand high-quality projects in areas such as the "six networks" and new quality productive forces, continuously optimize the credit business structure, and stabilize credit returns.

It will optimize investment strategies, make overall arrangements for bond variety structure, maturity structure, and investment timing, and maintain the yield advantage of its bond business.
