Yoshimasa Maruyama of SMBC Nikko Securities suggests the Nikkei 225 index could approach 65,000 points by the end of the year, considering recent stock market momentum and potential shifts in fundamental trends under stable, long-term government policies. The economist also projects the index could reach around 73,000 points by the end of 2027 and approximately 80,000 points by the end of 2028. However, he noted that if conflicts in the Middle East escalate, leading not only to higher crude oil prices but also evolving into severe supply constraints, the expected trajectory for asset prices, including equities, could be revised downward.
