Hong Kong's three major stock indexes opened higher on Thursday, extending a rebound driven by Wall Street's overnight recovery. US equities bounced back as Treasury yields retreated from recent peaks, with the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all closing in positive territory. The dollar softened, while the 10-year US Treasury yield eased to around 4.78%, supporting a rebound in gold prices from lower levels. Oil prices initially firmed before giving back gains later in the session.
The Hang Seng Index opened up 0.68% at 25,482.56 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index advanced 0.71%. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index also opened 0.75% higher. Sector-wise, tech and internet stocks were mostly firmer, with NetEase and Tencent both rising over 1%, and Lenovo surging more than 3%. Kuaishou bucked the trend, slipping 0.65%.
PCB-related names started the day strongly, with Kingboard Laminates jumping over 3%. Chip stocks were also active, as Biren Technology climbed more than 3%. Gold equities saw broad gains, with Zijin Gold International advancing over 3% in early trading.
