On December 15, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released a brief analysis of passenger vehicle production and sales for November 2025.

In November 2025, passenger vehicle production and sales reached 3.144 million and 3.037 million units, respectively, marking month-on-month increases of 5% and 2.6%, and year-on-year growth of 1.1% and 1.2%. According to CAAM, automakers maintained a steady production pace in November, with sales achieving growth both sequentially and annually despite a high base. However, as multiple regions have suspended policies supporting new energy and new vehicle purchases, retail sales have remained subdued in recent months. The industry is eagerly awaiting clarity on next year’s policy direction.

From January to November 2025, cumulative passenger vehicle production and sales stood at 27.388 million and 27.256 million units, up 12% and 11.5% year-on-year, respectively.

By segment, compared to October, production and sales of sedans and SUVs showed varying degrees of growth in November. Meanwhile, MassMutual Participation Investors (MPV) output saw a slight increase while sales dipped marginally, and crossover vehicle production declined sharply while sales posted double-digit growth. Year-on-year, sedan and SUV production and sales recorded modest gains, while MPVs and crossovers saw declines.

From January to November, all four major passenger vehicle segments reported year-on-year growth in production and sales, with crossovers registering the fastest expansion.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales in November totaled 2.414 million units, up 1% month-on-month but down 6.5% year-on-year. Cumulative domestic sales from January to November reached 21.86 million units, a 9.8% increase from the same period last year.

Exports of passenger vehicles in November surged to 624,000 units, rising 9.1% month-on-month and 48.7% year-on-year. Total exports for the first 11 months of 2025 climbed 19.4% to 5.397 million units.
