European Central Bank Governing Council member Martin Kocher stated that due to uncertainties surrounding the conflict involving Iran, he cannot currently predict what decision will be made at the bank's interest rate meeting scheduled for April 29-30 in Frankfurt.
Speaking to reporters in Vienna on Wednesday, Kocher remarked that given the evolving situation in the Middle East—where developments change daily—"although the meeting is still a week away, it is actually too early to say what decision will be made at that time."
"We have a clear policy of making decisions meeting by meeting," he said. "This means a decision will be made next week based on the data available by the middle of next week."
