Microsoft CEO Announces "Next-Gen" Agentic AI Model Launch on Friday Amid GPT-5.2 Uncertainty

Deep News12-11

As OpenAI's GPT-5.2 release plans face uncertainty, Microsoft has announced it will independently launch a new-generation AI model. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed during an event in Bangalore, India, on Thursday that the company will introduce a new AI model on Friday, which "will elevate AI agents to the next level."

Nadella made the announcement during his visit to India, where he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and business leaders. Earlier this week, he unveiled plans to invest $17.5 billion in AI cloud infrastructure in India and launch programs to train the country's workforce for the AI era.

Microsoft's independent move may reflect its strategic intent to seek greater autonomy in the AI field, rather than relying solely on partner OpenAI's technological progress.

The announcement comes amid intensifying competition in the AI industry. According to previous reports, OpenAI had planned to release GPT-5.2 as early as December 9, significantly ahead of its original late-December schedule, to counter fierce competition from Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude.

Social media comparisons suggest GPT-5.2 outperforms Gemini 3 and Claude 4.5 in nearly all parameter benchmarks. Sam Altman has also claimed in internal evaluations that the new model leads Google's offerings in reasoning capabilities.

However, analysts warn that OpenAI's release timeline remains unstable. Due to development challenges, server capacity constraints, and competitor movements, GPT-5.2's actual launch may be delayed beyond December 9. As of now, OpenAI has yet to release the latest GPT-5.2 model.
