Gree Electric Reports 91 Infringement Case Judgments in First Five Months, Seven Individuals Sentenced to Prison

On June 26, Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. Of Zhuhai released a progress report on its intellectual property rights enforcement actions. The company disclosed that it received judgments for 91 civil cases, including those concerning trademark infringement and unfair competition disputes, between January and May of this year. All parties found liable for infringement have been penalized according to law, with total court-awarded damages amounting to 2.5425 million yuan.

The appliance maker provided further details, stating that from January 2024 through May of this year, six criminal cases related to infringement have been concluded. In these cases, seven individuals received prison sentences ranging from six months to three years, alongside collective fines totaling 300,000 yuan. Additionally, 675 civil cases were resolved, with compensation awarded reaching a total of 33.5486 million yuan. Six administrative cases were also settled, resulting in combined fines of 97,989 yuan.

The company emphasized its firm stance against intellectual property violations. It stated it will resolutely pursue legal avenues to protect its rights against infringements such as trademark violations and unfair competition involving air conditioners, fans, bathroom heaters, and other appliances, as well as false advertising related to compressors.
