CZBANK Chairman Chen Haiqiang Discusses Digital Transformation Pitfalls in Banking Sector

Deep News03-31

On March 31, CZBANK Chairman Chen Haiqiang addressed a common misstep in digital transformation efforts during the bank's 2025 performance briefing. He noted that many banks have historically fallen into the trap where "the technology department works fervently while the business department remains disorganized, leading to difficulties in implementing transformation outcomes—a fundamental issue rooted in the disconnect between technology and business operations."

To tackle this challenge, Chen emphasized that business personnel must understand technology—knowing both its capabilities and applications—while technical staff should grasp business needs and pain points. More importantly, he stressed that digital transformation must be treated as a top-down initiative, driven strategically from the leadership level.

Chen Haiqiang further highlighted that digital transformation should not be superficial; instead, technology must be deeply integrated into the organizational framework rather than serving as a detached accessory.
