On May 14, the successful paving of the test section for the cold recycled base course using plant-mixed emulsified asphalt on the G331 National Highway (Dan'a Highway) was completed. This milestone is part of the National and Provincial Trunk Road Maintenance A4 Project undertaken by the Fourth Company of China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd. It signifies the project's successful transition from base course construction to surface course operations, providing reliable data support and technical guidance for subsequent large-scale, continuous paving work.
Since the project's commencement, the project department has consistently adhered to the overall schedule, strictly followed highway maintenance construction specifications and quality control requirements, and coordinated efforts in construction organization, safety management, and technical support. For the paving of this test section, a range of machinery was deployed, including one XCMG 4500 series mixing plant, one Vögele paver, three 13-ton double-drum steel wheel rollers, two 30-ton rubber-tired rollers, one synchronous chip seal truck, three water tankers, one sweeper, and fifteen transport vehicles.
Cold recycling technology, as a key green and low-carbon highway maintenance process, offers significant advantages such as resource conservation, shortened construction periods, and reduced carbon emissions. To ensure paving quality, the project department prepared a specialized construction plan in advance, conducting repeated verification and optimization of raw material testing, mix design, and construction process parameters. Throughout the construction process, the project team rigorously controlled key indicators including the uniformity of the plant-mixed emulsified asphalt cold recycled base mix, paving temperature, thickness, compaction density, and surface smoothness, ensuring the test section was completed in a single pass with controlled quality.
The successful paving of this test section lays a solid foundation for the future completion of construction and production tasks. All personnel involved in the National and Provincial Trunk Road Maintenance A4 Project will use this achievement as an opportunity to focus on the handover deadline. They will further strengthen on-site construction control, quality supervision, and safety protection to ensure the high-standard, high-quality completion of all maintenance engineering tasks for the year, contributing to the high-quality development of the regional transportation network.
