According to sources familiar with the matter, Alphabet (GOOGL) has recently placed an order with Intel (INTC) for more than 3 million Tensor Processing Units, with delivery scheduled for 2028.
The order is set to be produced in 2028.
The report also notes that several major AI chip design companies, including NVIDIA, are viewing Intel as a potential backup manufacturer for their most advanced processors.
NVIDIA has stated it has not yet placed an order with Intel.
The company is testing whether it can utilize Intel's technology to manufacture its upcoming processor, which integrates four graphics chips into a single unit.
