Cheniere Energy Partners LP (CQP) surged 5.11% during intraday trading on Thursday after the company reported second-quarter results that significantly exceeded analyst expectations. Net income per diluted common unit came in at $2.14, more than double the $0.91 reported a year earlier and well above the FactSet consensus estimate of $0.96.
The strong earnings performance was driven by higher LNG volumes recognized in revenue, which increased 12.82% to 396 TBtu, along with favorable changes in the fair value of derivatives. Total revenue for the quarter ended June 30 rose 5.21% year-over-year to $2.58 billion, while adjusted EBITDA climbed 35% to $983 million. Income from operations surged 87.41% to $1.34 billion, reflecting improved margins and lower cost of sales.
The company also reconfirmed its full-year 2026 distribution guidance of $3.10 to $3.40 per common unit and declared a Q2 cash distribution of $0.82 per common unit, including a $0.775 base and $0.045 variable component, payable on August 14. The results underscore Cheniere Partners' benefit from robust global LNG demand and operational efficiency at its export facilities.
