RoboSense's Solid-State LiDAR Powers Xiaomi's Latest SUV Model

Xiaomi Auto recently held a technology launch event for its Pengcheng series, unveiling the SkyNomad Xiaomi Pengcheng smart variable large-space SUV. RoboSense has disclosed that the large seven-seat flagship model, the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max, is equipped with a rear-facing all-solid-state digital LiDAR supplied exclusively by RoboSense. This makes it the first production model under the Xiaomi Auto brand to feature a rear solid-state LiDAR.

Beyond the main roof-mounted LiDAR, the addition of the rear-facing LiDAR enhances the vehicle's ability to perceive the environment near the rear and on the rear sides, providing three-dimensional spatial awareness. According to reports, the rear LiDAR in the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max is built on RoboSense's automotive-grade E platform, utilizing an all-solid-state digital architecture. This design balances a wide field of view, close-range ground coverage, compact integration, and automotive-grade reliability.

The value of this configuration is not merely about adding more sensors; it addresses the relatively limited coverage of traditional forward-facing perception systems in the near-field area behind the vehicle. It supplies more direct 3D distance and spatial information, extending the vehicle's perception capabilities from mid-to-long ranges in front to the immediate rear area. As all-solid-state LiDAR matures in terms of size, reliability, integration, and mass production, this type of setup is moving into L2-level production passenger vehicles. It is being deployed in more refined ways based on the size, functions, and scenario requirements of different models.

Currently, RoboSense has achieved global leadership in the mass production of automotive-grade all-solid-state LiDAR using its self-developed chips. Its products are already applied in various large-scale scenarios, including Robotaxis, unmanned delivery vehicles, and lawn-mowing robots. With the release of the large-area SPAD-SoC 'Peacock' chip, RoboSense has established a new chip foundation for the next evolution of all-solid-state LiDAR technology.
