Bulletin Express09-24

China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC) delivered a robust first-half performance for the six months ended 30 June 2026, supported by surging aircraft trading activity and disciplined cost control.

Revenue and Earnings • Total revenue rose 57.9% year on year to HK$3.91 billion, driven by a near six-fold increase in aircraft and components trading income to HK$829.40 million and a five-fold rise in other income to HK$1.16 billion. • Lease income softened 2.5% to HK$1.86 billion as re-marketing and lease extensions reduced average yields. • Profit attributable to shareholders advanced 22.0% to HK$171.37 million; basic earnings per share were HK$0.229. • EBITDA increased 22.6% to HK$2.42 billion.

Dividend • The board declared an interim dividend of HK$0.14 per share, up from HK$0.12 a year earlier, representing a HK$106.31 million cash payout with a 4% discount scrip option.

Fleet Development • Seven new Airbus A320neo family aircraft were delivered from the order book, while 16 used aircraft were acquired and nine aircraft were sold. • As at 30 June 2026 the fleet totalled 179 aircraft (163 owned, 16 managed); 91.4% of the owned fleet are single-aisle models. Average fleet age stands at 9.0 years with an average remaining lease term of 6.5 years. • Firm order book comprises 123 aircraft (98 Airbus A320neo family, 25 COMAC C909), underpinning future growth.

Global Footprint • 54% of the owned fleet is placed with Chinese carriers, while overseas airlines now account for more than 40% of CALC’s customer base. • All aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next 15 months have been mandated; around 80% will be leased to non-Chinese airlines, indicating further international diversification.

Capital and Liquidity • During the period CALC secured approximately US$2.4 billion in new or renewed credit facilities and closed a US$480 million unsecured PDP syndicated loan that was twice oversubscribed. • The company issued RMB1.50 billion of five-year bonds at a record-low 2.25% coupon and repaid US$35 million and RMB1.50 billion of maturing bonds. • Cash and cash equivalents climbed to HK$5.19 billion (31 Dec 2025: HK$3.52 billion); undrawn facilities stood at HK$17.66 billion. • Total assets reached HK$63.89 billion, up 10.1%, while interest-bearing debts rose 10.7% to HK$52.08 billion; the gearing ratio remained stable at 81.5%.

Strategic Initiatives • TransNusa, CALC’s Indonesian associate and launch overseas operator of the COMAC C909, operated five aircraft across 13 routes, carrying more than 710,000 passengers. • The Group deepened aftermarket capabilities, signing a strategic cooperation with CASC Bireturn and, post-period, an MoU with HAECO to create an engine quick-turn and hospital repair centre in Hong Kong.

Outlook IATA schedules point to continued traffic recovery, with global capacity expected to grow in the second half of 2026. CALC plans to maintain a prudent growth strategy, optimise its fleet mix, expand funding channels and reinforce risk management to capture sustained demand for new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft amid tight supply, elevated lease rates and ongoing airline fleet renewal needs.
