A recent incident involving moldy cakes sold by EAST BUY, which resulted in the merchant offering only a refund, has drawn public attention.

According to reports, a Ms. Wang from Ji'an, Jiangxi province, stated that on May 8, she purchased a box of meat floss chiffon cakes from the EAST BUY app for over 30 yuan. On the morning of May 18, when she opened the cake to eat it, she discovered mold spots covering its surface. She immediately reported the issue to customer service. The platform offered a full refund but made no further statement, which Ms. Wang, as an annual membership fee payer, found difficult to accept.

On May 19, EAST BUY released a video on social media stating: "EAST BUY always values the experience and feedback of every consumer. We will continue to refine the details, relentlessly pursue quality, and strive to satisfy more consumers. We thank our customer friends for their supervision and support!"

In the video, EAST BUY expressed serious concern over the mold issue with the chiffon cakes. The company stated it had immediately initiated a comprehensive traceability investigation into the problem and had retrieved production videos for the batch in question to review the entire production process.

On May 20, EAST BUY's stock price fell by over 4% during trading, closing the day down by 2.26%.
