JPMorgan released a research report stating that CATL showcased upgraded performance across its passenger vehicle battery portfolio during its Super Tech Day. The display included the Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery, Kirin and condensed-state batteries for high-performance electric vehicles, the Freevoy extended-range battery, and the Naxtra sodium-ion battery, along with updates on its charging and battery swap ecosystem. The bank views the event as reinforcing confidence in CATL’s technological leadership and maintains it as the preferred stock in China’s battery sector. JPMorgan reiterated an "Overweight" rating on CATL’s A-shares with a target price of RMB 520. The report highlighted that CATL’s third-generation Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery demonstrates outstanding ultra-rapid charging capabilities. The third-generation Kirin NCM battery achieves an energy density of 280 Wh/kg, with the battery pack weighing only 625 kg—255 kg lighter than an LFP system of equivalent capacity. The Kirin condensed-state battery reaches an energy density of 350 Wh/kg, enabling a typical sedan to exceed 1,500 km in range. The second-generation Freevoy battery sets a 400 km all-electric range as the "qualification line," with 600 km representing the new competitive threshold.
