On December 31st, Zhihu launched its "Zhihou Truth-Seeking" column, introducing the annual "Zhihou Debunking List" and "Zhihou Truth-Seeking List." Topics such as "Vitamin C can prevent colds," "The earlier you take growth hormones, the better," and "Pasting the Chinese character '麦' on windows can resist typhoons" were confirmed as pseudoscience and made it onto the annual "Debunking List." Meanwhile, seemingly incredible "out-of-the-box" topics like "Humans generate more heat per unit volume than the sun," "The song 'Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites' has a frequency that can repel mosquitoes," and "Do not take influenza antiviral medication with mineral water or milk" were featured on the annual "Truth-Seeking List."
Zhihu stated that distinguishing truth from falsehood has always been one of the responsibilities of its professional discussions. Through the truth-seeking column, Zhihu aims to use a more intuitive interactive format, leveraging experts' scientific rigor and authoritative fact-checking capabilities, to popularize science and debunk widely circulated "common knowledge" and "persistent myths," focusing not on assumptions but solely on uncovering the truth.
