Yesterday marked the start of the new semester for primary and secondary schools, as well as kindergartens, in the Xiuzhou District. The North Campus of Gaozhao Experimental School and the West Campus of Shanghai International Studies University Xiuzhou Foreign Language School officially opened their doors. Both campuses welcomed students back with brand-new facilities and a variety of science and innovation-themed activities.
Upon entering the North Campus of Gaozhao Experimental School, the new teaching building stands out as a striking feature. Bright classrooms, clean corridors, and comprehensive teaching and living facilities create a comfortable environment for both teachers and students. With a focus on scientific innovation, the school has deeply integrated the atmosphere of the Year of the Horse with technology experiences, designing a series of unique welcoming activities to ensure students returned to school with a sense of excitement and surprise.
On the first day, a display area at the school's entrance featured students' winter vacation assignments involving creative AI designs. Various Year of the Horse themed images showcased the agility of horses intertwined with technological creativity, highlighting the students' imaginative and innovative capabilities.
Yu Xuewei, the principal of Gaozhao Experimental School, stated that students at the school are not only proficient in using AI tools to create works but have also developed a rational understanding of technology. They know how to utilize AI to formulate study plans and enhance their daily lives and learning, making technology a true aid in their growth. The school also organized interactive experiences such as drone performances and laser engraving, allowing children to immerse themselves in the charm of technology and adding a strong sense of sci-fi and cyberpunk flair to the opening ceremony.
"The welcoming activities at the new campus not only align with the educational core concept of 'health first' but also vividly reflect the school's distinctive focus on science and innovation," Yu Xuewei said. "In particular, the exhibition of self-directed AI learning achievements from the winter vacation fully demonstrates students' scientific innovation capabilities. The various experiential activities also open students' eyes to the possibilities within a science and innovation atmosphere."
The West Campus of Shanghai International Studies University Xiuzhou Foreign Language School also welcomed students with a completely new outlook. Third and fourth-grade students, lined up neatly, toured the new campus, with the fresh environment filling them with curiosity and anticipation. During the construction of the new campus, the school emphasized integrating an AI-enabled philosophy. Newly added AI sports stations became popular check-in spots for students. Smart equipment automatically timed activities like jump rope, allowing students to experience the convenience and fun technology brings to recess exercise, genuinely feeling the unique charm of technology-enhanced sports.
In addition to the special science and innovation check-in points, the school also conducted rich welcoming activities such as globe check-ins, "Reading to See a New World" book sharing sessions, and fun small science experiments. These activities helped children quickly integrate into the new campus through interactive experiences, feeling the warmth and vitality of school life.
Gu Wenping, vice principal of Shanghai International Studies University Xiuzhou Foreign Language School, explained that AI-enabled education is a key focus for the new semester. The school has not only established hardware facilities like AI sports stations and AI classrooms but will also comprehensively integrate AI into teaching across various subjects.
