The sounding of the horn and lifting of cargo from the "MSC SIXIN" marked a historic milestone as Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) exceeded 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in Xiamen Port for 2025.
On December 24, the "MSC SIXIN," a vessel measuring 399.7 meters in length with a deadweight tonnage exceeding 200,000, commenced operations, symbolizing MSC's achievement. This ship represents the trend toward larger and more efficient container vessels in global shipping.
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, MSC is the world's leading container shipping company by capacity. Currently, MSC operates 11 routes from Xiamen Port, connecting key markets such as Europe, the U.S. East Coast, South America, and the Middle East. These routes serve as a vital logistics bridge for businesses in Fujian and surrounding regions.
MSC's annual throughput of over 1 million TEUs in Xiamen Port accounts for nearly one-tenth of the port's total container volume. This milestone underscores MSC's confidence in Xiamen Port's strategic advantages and comprehensive service capabilities, while also highlighting the port's strength as a major international shipping hub in Southeast China.
Building on this achievement, Xiamen Container Terminal Group will further enhance its service philosophy of "Service Creates the Future." By optimizing operational processes, improving resource coordination, and expanding logistics services, the group aims to provide more efficient cargo handling and a reliable logistics platform for clients. These efforts will further integrate Xiamen Port into the global shipping network, advancing its goal of becoming a world-class port.
