Specialty Agriculture Harvests Flourish, Driving Comprehensive Rural Revitalization

Deep News10-23

Autumn brings abundant harvests of specialty agricultural products such as fruits and melons. Many regions are leveraging the advantages of large-scale cultivation to strengthen brands, expand both domestic and international markets, and help farmers increase their incomes while advancing comprehensive rural revitalization.

Autumn colors spread across the branches, and the fragrance of fruit fills the air. In Pinghe County, Fujian Province, more than 700,000 mu of pomelo are being harvested in concentrated efforts. This year, the local area has advanced mechanization and intelligent technology at every stage, with drones frequently shuttling through mountainous forests to improve picking efficiency. Newly built pomelo storage and sorting centers rapidly grade and package the fruit, while seven nationwide direct logistics routes allow pomelos to be collected locally and reduce transshipment. The total industry chain output value is expected to exceed 20 billion yuan this year.

Currently, fresh Dangshan pears from Anhui Province are selling briskly. This year, the local area has also attracted investment to add several new pear product processing enterprises, expanding into categories such as dried fruit snacks, health beverages, and cosmetics. Fresh pears converted and processed locally now account for more than half of total production. In Tongnan, Chongqing, measures such as shortening customs clearance and inspection times and using China-Europe railway express transport are being used to save time and ensure quality. Harvested yellow lemons are now exported to 34 countries and regions, up from 26 last year.

In the vineyards of Laixi, Shandong Province, the joy of a bountiful harvest fills the air. This year, some local villages established trading companies through village collectives, reducing intermediary agency links and leaving more export revenue for growers. Formerly wasteland is now becoming a new treasure trove for prosperity. In Wushi, Xinjiang, sea buckthorn berries hang heavy on the branches. Through technologies such as building micro-reservoirs and installing seepage irrigation networks, the survival rate of sea buckthorn on the Gobi Desert has been continuously improved. Today, sea buckthorn cultivation area exceeds 180,000 mu, and the industry chain can provide nearby employment for more than 1,500 people. In Wenshan, Yunnan Province, once rocky desertification hills are now lush with greenery, and everyone is busy harvesting cactus. This ecological governance measure is becoming a distinctive rural industry for prosperity.
