Recently, Mr. Liu from Jinan, Shandong province claimed that after obtaining a 4.5 million yuan loan from Pingyin Rural Commercial Bank in 2022, a bank manager borrowed a total of 6.05 million yuan from him under the pretext that his clients needed "bridge" financing. This bank manager has now become unreachable, and Pingyin Rural Commercial Bank stated that "the employee has been dismissed, and the borrowing was personal conduct." Mr. Liu operates a foreign trade company in Jinan. In 2022, he applied for a 4.5 million yuan loan through a manager surnamed Sun at Pingyin Rural Commercial Bank. After the loan was approved, the two became acquainted, and Manager Sun began borrowing money from Mr. Liu with increasing frequency.
Mr. Liu, a resident of Jinan: I felt he handled interpersonal relations quite well, and with such a large bank involved, I didn't perceive any issues. It wasn't until January 2025, after the last loan was made, that he disappeared. After my calculations, he owes me a total of 6.05 million yuan. Mr. Liu stated that his company simply couldn't sustain loans exceeding 6 million yuan, so he urgently contacted Pingyin Rural Commercial Bank. Unexpectedly, the bank also couldn't locate Manager Sun.
Mr. Liu, a resident of Jinan: When we went to his bank, the branch president directly said he was on leave and they couldn't reach him either. By March, they said he had been dismissed. After visiting the rural commercial bank many times, I discovered he hadn't just borrowed from us; he had borrowed from over ten other people, with the total amount exceeding 20 million yuan. To uncover the truth, a reporter, along with Mr. Liu and several other lenders, visited the urban branch of Shandong Pingyin Rural Commercial Bank.
The branch president explained that he had only been working at this branch for about a year and wasn't very familiar with Manager Sun's situation. He stated he would report the lenders' demands to senior management. Regarding Manager Sun's bank transaction records, Mr. Liu said Sun provided them himself.
Mr. Liu, a resident of Jinan: Because I was pressing him hard, later, to prove he had no money to repay me, he sent me the transaction records from two bank cards. I was stunned when I saw them. From 2022 to 2025, just these two cards had transaction volumes exceeding 500 million yuan over three years. Most astonishingly, in December 2024, just before he disappeared, the transaction volume reached over 200 million yuan in just over 40 days. These transactions showed virtually no so-called bank "bridge" business; they were almost entirely used for high consumption, including a single meal costing over 8,000 yuan, and the purchase of a BMW and a Tesla.
Mr. Liu, a resident of Jinan: This BMW was actually registered under a woman surnamed Ma. Based on our investigations from various sources, this Ms. Ma works at a high-end KTV. We also discovered he transferred several hundred thousand yuan to Ms. Ma. The branch president said the bank had already imposed disciplinary action on Manager Sun. But what exactly was the disciplinary action? The reporter followed Mr. Liu and the others to the disciplinary inspection commission of Pingyin Rural Commercial Bank to inquire.
When asked by Mr. Liu whether there had been an in-depth investigation into Manager Sun's issues, the staff member from the Pingyin Rural Commercial Bank disciplinary inspection commission did not provide a direct answer, stating instead, "We are unable to investigate this matter."
