Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) for 2026 is set to commence in the early hours of June 9, Beijing time. Market attention is intensely focused on the long-awaited AI-enhanced version of Siri, which has yet to fully materialize.
Goldman Sachs analyst Michael Ng highlighted in a report that the core focus of this conference is the AI-enhanced Siri and the new generation of operating systems, spanning iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The report suggests these new features will become key demand drivers for products like the iPhone, helping Apple sustain its strong revenue momentum. Data shows iPhone revenue grew 23% year-over-year in the first half of fiscal 2026.
The report also notes that historically, Apple stock has tended to rise ahead of WWDC events but often pulls back during the conference itself—the stock has already gained 19% since late April. In contrast, UBS analyst David Vogt holds a more cautious view, suggesting WWDC26 is unlikely to serve as a positive catalyst for the stock price.
Will the Delayed AI Siri Be a Turning Point?
According to the Goldman Sachs report, Apple is expected to disclose the launch timeline and functional details for the AI-enhanced Siri at this WWDC. The feature was first previewed at WWDC 2024 but has since faced multiple delays and has not been officially launched.
The new Siri is anticipated to deliver several previously promised but unrealized functions, including on-screen awareness, personal context understanding, and deep integration with native apps like Messages, Calendar, Photos, and Notes. Goldman Sachs analyst Ng described these features in the report as significant demand drivers for the Apple product lineup.
UBS analyst Vogt views WWDC26 as the "first major test" for Apple's AI Siri. This implies that market validation of Apple's AI capabilities still requires time, and this conference represents more of a starting point than an inflection moment.
Additional AI Features and System Upgrades in the Pipeline
Beyond the AI-powered Siri, reports indicate Apple may also introduce several AI-driven additional features at this event. For the Photos app, more sophisticated AI photo editing tools are expected, including Extend for generating expanded image areas, detail enhancement, and a Reframe function for composition adjustment, surpassing the capabilities of the existing Clean Up tool.
Regarding visual intelligence, the Camera app's Visual Intelligence feature is set for an upgrade, enabling the scanning of nutrition labels to sync data with the Health app for dietary tracking, as well as scanning business cards to automatically create contacts. Furthermore, the Safari browser is likely to add a new tab grouping feature, and the Wallet app will support generating custom passes from physical tickets.
