Tesla Rolls Out Major 2026.26.6.5 Update Across North America, Merging FSD v14.3.8 with Summer Release

Tesla has commenced the rollout of software update 2026.26.6.5 to its entire vehicle lineup across North America as of August 27. This is a substantial release, as it bundles the FSD v14.3.8 upgrade with the highly anticipated 2026 Summer Update into a single firmware package.

This release effectively combines two separate update streams into one. The FSD system is being elevated from v14.3.7 to v14.3.8, while eligible vehicles are now receiving the complete set of features from the 2026 Summer Update. Previously, these summer features had been trickling out to earlier 2026.26.x branches since late July.

Key highlights of the 2026.26.6.5 release include: Dirty Tesla has observed that the FSD-specific release notes appear nearly identical to those of v14.3.7. This suggests that v14.3.8 is likely a refinement of the existing architecture rather than a major feature introduction. According to Tesla's prior update notes, v14.3.7 delivered a rewritten AI compiler that improved system responsiveness by approximately 20%, reduced braking jitter, and enhanced 3D geometry recognition along with traffic sign detection. Therefore, v14.3.8 is expected to build upon these improvements with further optimization and fine-tuning.

The FSD v14.3.x branch is specifically designed for Hardware 4 (AI4) platforms, making the 2026.26.6.5 update primarily applicable to vehicles equipped with HW4 hardware and the purchased FSD (Supervised) package. Eligible models include the new Model 3 and Model Y with AI4 hardware, the current Cybertruck, and the latest Model S and Model X variants equipped with HW4 prior to their discontinuation.

Vehicles running Hardware 3 (HW3) follow a separate update path. Tesla is currently distributing FSD v14 Lite in markets such as the United States and Canada through versions like 2026.20.6.11, which is optimized for the older computing capabilities of HW3. Consequently, if your vehicle is equipped with HW3, you will not receive the 2026.26.6.5 update containing v14.3.8. Instead, you should monitor the FSD v14 Lite branch for its subsequent releases.
