On June 9th, international oil prices continued their decline, with both WTI and Brent crude falling by more than 2%. At the time of writing, WTI crude oil had extended its losses to 2.64%, while ICE Brent crude was down 2.14%. Meanwhile, US pre-market trading saw gains in semiconductor, memory concept, and optical communication stocks.
At the time of writing, Broadcom Inc was up 1.39%, Advanced Micro Devices Inc gained 1.71%, Applied Materials Inc and Intel Corporation both rose 2%, SanDisk Corporation advanced 3.44%, Micron Technology Inc jumped 4.24%, and Marvell Technology Inc climbed 4.90%.
According to reports, former US President Donald Trump stated that negotiations between the United States and Iran have entered a "final stage." Trump said on the 9th that the talks have reached a critical point and an agreement is expected within "two to three days."
Speaking to reporters at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, Trump noted that following recent exchanges between Israel and Iran, both sides have "agreed to a ceasefire." He added, "We are at the very end, and we will have a very, very good agreement." When asked about the timeline for the negotiations, Trump responded, "two to three days."
From the evening of the 7th to the 8th local time, Iran and Israel engaged in their largest-scale exchange of fire since the announcement of a ceasefire in early April involving the US, Israel, and Iran. Later on the 8th, both Iran and Israel announced they would cease attacks on each other.
Trump has recently stated multiple times that an agreement with Iran is imminent, but no deal has been finalized to date.
