Lenovo Group (00992) Surges Over 5% in Morning Trading as FCC New Rule Proposal Has Limited Impact, Higher PC Average Prices Expected to Offset Shipment Pressure

Stock News10-14

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Lenovo Group (00992) surged over 5% in morning trading. As of press time, the stock rose 3.54% to HK$32.2, with a turnover of HK$861 million.

On the news front, the U.S. FCC proposed new rules on October 7, planning to require electronic devices sold in the U.S. market to be tested within the United States or in countries that have implemented reciprocal recognition of U.S. laboratories. The proposal is expected to be voted on on October 29, with the relevant restrictions planned to be officially implemented in December 2028. CLSA pointed out that the new FCC proposed rules on electronic device testing have limited actual impact on Lenovo Group, and the market's stock price reaction has been excessive.

Morgan Stanley stated that although slowing global PC demand and rising storage prices are putting pressure on the industry, Lenovo is expected to offset some of the impact of declining shipments through higher product average prices. At the same time, the company's higher proportion of commercial PC business, larger procurement scale, and continuous improvement in ISG profitability are expected to jointly drive margin improvement.
