Surge in Foot Traffic! Shenzhen Huaqiang North Becomes Holiday Hotspot as "Procurement Tourism" Goes Viral

Deep News10-08

During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period, cultural and tourism consumption remained hot, with various specialized professional markets also becoming popular check-in destinations for tourists. Shenzhen's Huaqiang North market in Guangdong Province is an important electronic product trading hub in China. During this holiday, many tourists flocked there, making "procurement-style tourism" go viral.

At the second floor of Huaqiang Electronics World, numerous consumers can be seen around. Typically, the daily peak traffic at Electronics World occurs at 3 PM, but during the National Day holiday period, by 9:30 AM when Electronics World just opens, there are already many tourists from across the country queuing and waiting.

A tourist from Zhejiang said: "Coming from Zhejiang, the variety of earphones, watches, and cameras is much richer than I expected. This is my first time here and I'm truly amazed. I'm taking whatever I like."

In Huaqiang North, from smart wearables to AI toys, various electronic product counters attract tourists of all ages carrying large and small bags, stopping to inquire about prices and make purchases for novel products. Currently, during the consumer electronics new product launch season, sales at the marketplace have been significantly boosted.

During the dual holiday period, floors and shops in Huaqiang North market primarily dealing with electronic components were basically closed, with Electronics World only opening three floors. However, with the influx of large numbers of tourists, foot traffic in the market increased rather than decreased, keeping merchants busy with orders.

Liu Zhigang, Deputy Director of the Market Department at Shenzhen Huaqiang Electronics World Store 2, said: "It's in a packed state. The average daily foot traffic is usually around 31,000-32,000 people, but now it's 35,000, so consumer foot traffic is much higher than usual."
