On May 31, ahead of Children's Day, Meituan disclosed the latest data for its Rural Children's Playground public welfare plan. The project, launched in collaboration with the One Foundation, has now completed the construction of over 5,000 playgrounds since the first one was established in September 2020. These facilities are spread across 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China, covering more than 3,000 towns and directly benefiting over 680,000 rural children.
The funding that supports this large-scale initiative comes from a unique public welfare mechanism driven by everyday consumer transactions. Over the past six years, with the active participation of 1.92 million participating merchants and 1.578 million individual donors, 620 million consumers have contributed through their daily purchases, collectively raising over 520 million yuan in charitable funds.
