October 20 — The way gold is held is increasingly being combined with financing services.
EasyMarkets has noted that Ledn plans to launch loans collateralized by Tether Gold in the coming weeks, hoping to let holders obtain liquidity while retaining their gold-related exposure. This arrangement is currently a product plan, and the actual terms and implementation still require formal disclosure.
The token represents a right to custody-held physical gold and is not the same as the metal being held directly in an individual's hands. EasyMarkets believes that standardized digital certificates may simplify the calculation of collateral quantities and loan terms, but convenience must be built on reserve verification, custody arrangements, and the enforceability of rights, rather than merely looking at the trading format.
The relevant gold is said to be stored in Swiss vaults, and digital records facilitate transfer, but physical storage and service providers still exist. Holders need to understand the respective functions of the certificate, the metal, and the loan contract. Borrowing will not automatically generate returns from interest-free gold.
Loan interest, collateral ratios, and price fluctuations will jointly determine the cost of using funds; when collateral value declines, borrowers may also need to add guarantees or reduce liabilities. Therefore, improved liquidity and leverage risk should be assessed simultaneously, and the borrowable amount should not be regarded as newly created wealth.
From an industry development perspective, EasyMarkets notes that what is worth tracking is whether actual borrowing demand, redemption processes, and liquidation rules are clear. If standardized services lower operational thresholds, gold's uses may be further extended; if fees and rights structures are complex, digitalization alone will not be enough to improve the holding experience, and a full comparison of costs and the reliability of service operations is still needed.
