Anke Consulting's Guo Yiwen: DeepSeek Stuns Anthropic, Like Cape Verde Drawing with Spain

Anke Consulting's Global President, Guo Yiwen, delivered a speech at the "Beyond the Arena – U.S.-China Business, AI, and Global Collaboration" private salon, co-hosted by SINA Finance and the China General Chamber of Commerce in the U.S., held in New York on July 20 local U.S. time.

Guo Yiwen stated that artificial intelligence will inevitably transform corporate strategy, but first, it will fundamentally alter the way companies operate. He believes AI is neither purely a job creator nor purely a job killer. What AI truly accomplishes is the elimination of specific tasks, and this trend is intensifying. These eliminated tasks often do not require creativity, rich experience, or intellect.

He mentioned that one related study shows that 60% of work time is actually spent on trivialities rather than focusing on the actual work itself. AI has the potential to eliminate these inefficient tasks very quickly, thereby becoming a tool to liberate productivity. This would free up employees' time, creativity, and innovative capacity, creating more space for new insights, new solutions, and new methods.

Guo Yiwen expressed amazement that China is transitioning from a traditional industry-based society to an innovation-driven one at an unprecedented pace. He specifically noted that in areas like health, drug research, renewable energy, and transportation electrification, local Chinese innovation is booming. He said the whole world should have the opportunity to access these Chinese brands and innovative ideas.

Guo Yiwen pointed out that in the field of artificial intelligence, the complementary approaches of China and the United States are particularly prominent. This complementarity makes both sides stronger, as they mutually promote and enhance each other.

He gave an example, stating that DeepSeek has stunned Anthropic because it brings new breakthroughs, achieving higher efficiency with fewer resources and posing a challenge in terms of capability. This is akin to the match between Spain and Cape Verde, which ended in a draw. Although neither side achieved victory, they inspired each other and improved together, so in a sense, both won.

Guo Yiwen emphasized that this is precisely the opportunity that cooperation and collaboration can bring us, eliminating redundant R&D efforts and accelerating the pace of progress for the entire world. Whether on one side of the globe or the other, efforts by a single party are far from sufficient. Only through partnerships and cooperation can we find real solutions.

"I do not think the United States and China are competitors; I truly believe they are strategic partners," he said.

Guo Yiwen concluded by offering two suggestions:

First, when considering deploying AI within your own enterprise, think about the tasks that hinder progress. Consider how to free employees from these trivial matters and release their time. More importantly, think about how to reutilize the time freed up for employees. If this can be managed well, it can unleash entirely new creativity and performance within the enterprise.

Second, adopting these technologies is not merely a business issue; it concerns trust, brand, reputation, and corporate performance. Therefore, when we think about how to implement these technologies and harness their power to drive the enterprise forward responsibly, we will all achieve great success. I hope everyone can gain a lot from these forums.
