Cainiao Officially Launches "Integrated Customs Clearance and Warehousing" UK Facility

Cainiao announced on the evening of August 4 that its London port warehouse in the UK officially began operations on August 3. According to the company, the warehouse had undergone several months of trial operations, during which the "integrated customs clearance and warehousing" model was tested with actual business.

This model consolidates customs clearance, inspection, and last-mile delivery into a single system, enabling cross-border parcels to be delivered within as little as 24 hours after arrival in the UK. Even during peak promotional periods, delivery times remain stable, providing core support for Cainiao's "3-day delivery" service in the UK.

The warehouse is independently operated by Cainiao, which collaborates with partners to handle customs clearance. "The reason we chose to build our own port warehouse in the UK is to work with partners to take control of the customs clearance and postal handover process—the part of the logistics chain that is most prone to delays," said Li Shuo, head of Cainiao Group's cross-border logistics for Europe. "Only by achieving integrated customs clearance and warehousing, with full control over the entire process, can we provide merchants with a stable and predictable delivery timeline, turning logistics from an uncertain factor in cross-border e-commerce into a reliable one."
