Stock News10-21

Innovative drug stocks in Hong Kong continued their upward momentum, with Zai Lab Ltd (HKEX: 09688) rising 6.26% to HK$20.04, Everest Medicines (HKEX: 01952) gaining 5.62% to HK$35.7, DualityBio-B (HKEX: 09606) climbing 5.28% to HK$177.50, and Akeso Inc (HKEX: 09926) advancing 3.94% to HK$95, as of press time.

On the news front, the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Annual Congress will be held in Madrid from October 23 to 27. A total of 29 domestic innovative drug studies have been selected as Late-Breaking Abstracts (LBA), accounting for approximately one-third of all LBAs, with 5 entering the Presidential Symposium. These cover frontier tracks including ADCs, bispecific antibodies, and targeted drugs. Multiple Hong Kong-listed innovative drug companies are expected to disclose key Phase III clinical data at the event.

Additionally, a succession of platform-type BD deals has continued to convey confidence. On October 19, Hansoh Pharmaceutical announced a new strategic collaboration with Roche on multiple ADC projects, with upfront and one-year anniversary payments totaling US$510 million and potential milestone payments exceeding US$15 billion. On the same day, Jitai Technology announced a collaboration with Eli Lilly on an AI-driven extrahepatic LNP delivery platform, with an upfront payment exceeding US$10 million and a total deal value of up to US$1.1 billion.

Guojin Securities believes that innovative drug companies are reaching an inflection point in turning profitable, with dense clinical data catalysts throughout the year. Combined with the smooth overseas clinical progress of pipelines already out-licensed through BD deals, the brokerage is bullish on investment opportunities in the innovative drug sector.
