Tianjin continues to promote deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, providing new momentum for building a modern industrial system through platform construction and institutional mechanism improvement.
Recently, in Tianjin Binhai High-tech Zone, a fully automated intelligent production line for glass substrate new materials commenced operations, capable of mass-producing large-size high-copper thick glass substrates that will be widely applied in high-definition display and other fields. The transformation of this production line from research and development to commercialization benefited from government-led innovation consortiums that connect enterprises with universities and research institutions, fully leveraging the research capabilities and equipment resources of academic institutions to help companies breakthrough key technologies.
Since the beginning of this year, Tianjin has established 17 industrial chain innovation consortiums, covering more than 60 key enterprises and over 30 universities and research institutions, achieving deep integration between industrial chains and innovation chains.
Sun Honglei, Director of Planning and Development Department at Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, stated: "We are fully leveraging Tianjin's rich scientific and educational resources advantage, establishing and improving institutional mechanisms for deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation. We are focusing on cultivating strategic emerging industries on one hand, and promoting transformation and upgrading of traditional industries on the other, consolidating the foundation for the city's industrial development and enhancing industrial development capabilities."
This year, Tianjin released 43 policy measures to promote high-quality manufacturing development, formulated lists of key bottleneck technologies and products for priority industries, and relied on innovation consortiums for scientific research breakthroughs. Meanwhile, focusing on cultivating strategic emerging industries and planning future industries, Tianjin has intensified support for key laboratories and research teams for concept validation, building the innovation sourcing capabilities of scientific innovation platforms.
The Tianjin University Science and Technology Innovation Park houses over 20 national key laboratory R&D projects, with 70% of resident projects having completed prototype development, cultivating more incremental growth for high-quality development.
Data shows that in the first half of this year, Tianjin's above-scale industrial added value increased by 5.1% year-on-year, with value-added growth in both the Internet of Vehicles and biopharmaceutical industry chains exceeding 10%.
