On June 11th, the DiDi app unveiled a significant refresh with its version 8.0 launch. The update features a comprehensive redesign of the top navigation bar, tailored to different user scenarios. Building upon the core "Transport" function, new dedicated portals for "Delivery," "Travel," and "Car Owner" services have been added. This expansion marks DiDi's continuous evolution from immediate ride-hailing to planned travel services and from transporting people to delivering goods.
Upon opening the latest version of the app, users can now hail a ride by simply speaking a command to DiDi's AI assistant. By tapping the new "Delivery" tab in the top navigation, users gain access to services like DiDi Delivery, express courier runs, and moving assistance. The "Travel" page offers a suite of booking options including car rentals, and reservations for flights, hotels, train tickets, and bus tickets. It also provides access to "DiDi Private Tours" for tailored tourism experiences.
Concurrently, the app's official name has been shortened from "DiDi Chuxing" to simply "DiDi." The bottom navigation bar has been updated with new fixed entries for "Messages" and "Trips." The "Messages" section consolidates conversations, updates, notifications, and alerts from across DiDi's various services into one unified inbox. The "Trips" section displays information for completed, ongoing, and upcoming orders, allowing users to easily track their real-time status and travel arrangements.
DiDi's quality transportation services have also received a comprehensive upgrade. New service tiers such as "Light Enjoy" and "Select Express" are being rolled out, featuring drivers selected for providing superior service. These standardized offerings aim to ensure a more consistent and reliable travel experience.
The DiDi Travel service is positioned as a one-stop platform for "Car Rental + Hotel + Flights + Train Tickets + Tourism." Within this, DiDi Car Rental boasts a record where over 95% of orders are completed without complaints or disputes. DiDi Hotels has integrated supply from over 600,000 hotels across the country. DiDi Flights strictly adheres to official airline ticketing information and pricing, eliminating intermediary layers and hidden fees to protect consumer rights with transparent pricing. DiDi Tourism is also actively developing premium, fully self-operated tour packages.
The DiDi Delivery service focuses on comprehensive intra-city delivery solutions, covering large-item delivery, small-parcel express delivery, and moving services. For large items, users can choose from 27 different types of truck vehicles. DiDi Express provides urgent intra-city courier and errand services for small items via two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. DiDi Moving currently offers its services in more than 300 cities nationwide.
