During the Fourth Session of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, municipal NPC deputy and China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater actress Gao Yin put forward suggestions focused on cultural accessibility and youth development. She emphasized that in the process of shifting urban development from scale expansion to connotative enhancement, greater efforts should be made to integrate high art into the daily lives of citizens, while simultaneously creating a more favorable environment for the growth of young people.
Regarding development in the cultural sector, Gao Yin proposed that premium performances from national-level art troupes should reach grassroots communities through flexible and diverse formats. "We not only have large-scale stage performances but can also organize small performance teams to visit parks and communities, allowing residents to enjoy high-level opera, dance drama, and symphony performances right at their doorsteps," she stated. Citing the recent tour by the China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater in places like Shaanxi and Yan'an as an example, she illustrated that high art is also immensely popular at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the development of the youth demographic, Gao Yin encouraged young people to maintain confidence and diligently hone their skills. "This is an excellent time for young people to realize their grand ambitions; the nation has created numerous development opportunities for the youth, and the key is to seize these era-specific chances and continuously enhance their own capabilities," she remarked. She particularly advised young students to concentrate on their studies and avoid excessive distraction from online information.
On the topic of Beijing's construction of a youth-friendly city, Gao Yin expressed strong anticipation: "As an international exchange hub and the national cultural center, Beijing's efforts to build a youth-friendly city will provide a global platform for young people to communicate, broaden their horizons, which holds positive significance for their future development." She suggested that by strengthening international youth cultural exchanges, broader development spaces could be opened up for the growth of Beijing's youth.
"I will continue to focus on issues of cultural and artistic popularization and youth development, offering suggestions and contributions to advance the construction of the national cultural center and the development of a youth-friendly city," Gao Yin said.
