Lei Jun: With Fuel Prices So High, I've Asked My Team to Ensure Support for 92-Octane Gasoline

Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group, spoke at the Xiaomi Pengcheng Technology Launch event this evening. Noting public complaints about high fuel prices and maintenance costs, he said the company has made significant efforts to reduce these expenses for the Pengcheng range extender. First, after the initial service, the entire vehicle or the range extender needs maintenance only once every three years or 30,000 kilometers of use, compared to conventional gasoline cars that often require service every 5,000 or 10,000 kilometers.

Second, Lei Jun stated he has specifically asked his team to ensure the vehicle supports 92-octane gasoline. "With fuel prices so high today, a major reason many people choose electric vehicles is the cost of gasoline," he explained. Noting that over 30,000 gas stations only offer 92-octane fuel, he asked, "How can we claim our car is truly free and able to go anywhere if it can't refuel wherever it stops?"
