Hong Kong Stocks Midday: Hang Seng Edges Down 0.27% While 2x Leveraged Chip Stock Surges

Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index slipped 0.27% in morning trade, shedding 67 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index dropped 1.1%. Turnover for the morning session reached HK$105 billion.

Lulumei (06658) jumped more than 19% before noon after being added to the Stock Connect eligible list. The company is driven by its dual-engine strategy of deepening its core green plum business and developing its "Meidong" second growth curve.

The Southern East 2x Leveraged SK hynix Product (07709) soared 12% in early trading. According to South Korean brokerage KB Securities, the memory chip market is facing a severe supply shortage as artificial intelligence infrastructure investment expands at an unprecedented pace. Inventory levels of memory chips at Samsung Electronics and SK hynix have fallen to less than 10 days of supply, suggesting that actual sellable supply next year could be noticeably insufficient.

Hong Kong-listed GigaDevice (03986) advanced more than 3%. Longsys Electronics (09976), which debuted today, slipped 0.68% on its first trading day; the company is the world's second-largest independent semiconductor memory manufacturer.

Gold stocks recovered this morning. The People's Bank of China has increased its gold reserves for 22 consecutive months, while the Fed's September rate decision remains dependent on CPI data. Zijin Mining (02899) rose 3.67%, and China Gold International (02099) gained 2%.

Jitai Technology-P (07666) climbed more than 11% as the company partnered with Luye Pharma to become its first strategic partner for AI-powered drug delivery.

GenScript Biotech (01548) advanced more than 9% after announcing plans to spin off Probio and list it in Hong Kong, which may help alleviate redemption pressure.

Xian Gong Intelligent (06106) gained more than 8% after officially being included in Stock Connect. Its robot brain shipments surged over 80% year-on-year in the first half.

Basic Semiconductor (09971) rose 3.5%, as revenue contribution from industrial modules and SiC MOSFETs climbed to 30%.

Jinhai Medical Technology (02225) continued its rally with a gain of more than 10%, as inclusion in Stock Connect brings southbound capital inflows, with a clear trend of earnings recovery.

COFCO Joycome (01610) added more than 4%, as its fresh pork business turned profitable for the first time while the brand mix continues to improve.

Yingmei Holdings (02028) opened high but plunged more than 16%, after surging over 84% the previous day, following the announcement of a majority shareholder's clearance placement.
