Deep News08-31

During the 2026 interim results conference held on August 31, PICC Group Vice President Cai Zhiwei addressed investor inquiries regarding the company's investment in Cxmt Corporation (SH: 688825). He noted that PICC initially invested in the company in 2021, and based on the IPO closing price as of July 27, the investment has generated a return exceeding 20 times the initial outlay.

Cai emphasized that the success of this investment extends beyond mere financial gains. He highlighted that it showcases PICC Group's ability to simultaneously leverage its strengths in both investment and insurance operations, effectively utilizing its advantages in technology insurance and its role as a provider of long-term, patient capital. This approach, he said, supports the overarching goal of advancing technology finance, thereby fostering technological innovation and the development of new productive forces.

Furthermore, Cai detailed that PICC Group initially supplied Cxmt Corporation with a variety of insurance products and services, offering substantial insurance backing that supported the company's technological breakthroughs and research and development infrastructure.

Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Cai stated that PICC Group will maintain its long-term investment philosophy, deepen its commitment to the five major financial initiatives, and strictly implement the four investment work requirements. He revealed that the group's project pipeline currently contains a number of high-quality opportunities similar to Cxmt, which are also expected to yield strong investment returns.

Cai further elaborated on future strategies, indicating that PICC Group plans to enhance its integrated advantages across various investment methods, including the synergy between insurance and investment, primary and secondary markets, equity funds and direct investments, as well as equity and debt financing. The group will concentrate on key sectors aligned with national strategic directives, including artificial intelligence, technological innovation, green energy, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and biomedicine. By focusing on critical areas and key tracks that are both strategically important and relevant to its core insurance business, PICC Group aims to establish an investment model where insurance and investment reinforce each other. This, in turn, is intended to deepen the linkage between its insurance and investment operations, ultimately strengthening the role of investment as a key driver for the group's high-quality development.
