On the evening of November 9, the 200,000-ton container ship *COSCO SHIPPING Gemini* successfully docked at berths 9 and 10 of the Qinzhou Automated Container Terminal in Guangxi's Beibu Gulf Port. This marks the arrival of the largest and longest container vessel in the port's history.
The *COSCO SHIPPING Gemini* has a capacity of 20,119 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) and measures 399.8 meters in length. During this voyage, it will handle 13,000 TEUs at Qinzhou Port. After loading, the vessel will depart for Rotterdam, the Netherlands, via Qingdao Port, integrating into the Asia-Europe trade route.
Earlier, on November 6, another large container ship of the same class, *COSCO SHIPPING Pacific*, successfully berthed at Qinzhou Port and completed operations for 11,072 TEUs.
According to a representative from Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group, the consecutive docking of these mega-vessels signifies a breakthrough in Beibu Gulf Port's capability to routinely accommodate and service ultra-large ships, accelerating its role as an international gateway hub.
Currently, Qinzhou Port is enhancing its "hub + channel + network" layout. As the core container hub of Beibu Gulf Port, it can accommodate 200,000-ton container ships for one-way navigation and 300,000-ton oil tankers. In the first three quarters of this year, Qinzhou Port's foreign trade container throughput reached 874,000 TEUs, up 28.4% year-on-year.
Beibu Gulf Port has expanded its shipping network to 91 routes, covering major ports along China's coast, Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia, while also extending to South Asia, Africa, and South America. This provides efficient pathways for cargo from China's western regions to access global markets.
