Recent persistent heavy rainfall has triggered severe waterlogging, disrupted transportation, and caused localized water and power outages in several areas of Guangxi, including Hengzhou in Nanning and Guigang, leading to a critical flood control situation that has captured public concern.
In response to this emergency, H World Group's South China division promptly activated its emergency response protocol. It coordinated with its properties in the affected zones to swiftly organize efforts focused on guest relocation, resource allocation, property risk mitigation, and employee support, dedicating full efforts to safeguard the safety of both guests and staff. The company also mobilized relief supplies to support frontline flood relief work in Hengzhou.
It is reported that the group's properties in Guigang, Qinzhou, and Fangchenggang have been impacted to varying degrees. For instance, the Ji Hotel Guigang Municipal Government branch experienced basement flooding and disruptions to water and power supply. The property's management team quickly enacted its flood prevention contingency plan, simultaneously organizing water drainage and safety inspections of equipment while continuously liaising with power, water, and emergency service providers to maintain basic services to the greatest extent possible.
For guests stranded at the property, the hotel provided timely reassurance and introduced measures such as discounted rates for extended stays to alleviate guest anxiety, aiming to make the accommodation a reliable "safe harbor" amidst the disaster.
The dedication of frontline staff has added a layer of warmth during the storm. Employees provided timely hot meals, charging devices, and warm supplies to guests who were relocated to the hotel. Some staff even brought high-capacity power banks from their homes to ensure communication devices remained operational.
The day after the power outage, with food supplies running low, the on-duty team successfully coordinated to obtain gas and simple cooking equipment to provide hot meals for both stranded guests and working employees.
Concurrently, H World Group coordinated the dispatch of emergency supplies to the severely affected area of Hengzhou. In addition to essential items like drinking water and food, the supplies included targeted provisions such as maternal and infant products, as well as moisture-proof and warmth-retaining materials, contributing to efforts to address the difficulties faced by residents in the disaster zone.
H World Group will continue to monitor the progress of flood control, relief, and post-disaster reconstruction in Guangxi. It remains committed to fully supporting the recovery of its affected properties and ensuring guest welfare, standing with all sectors in Guangxi to weather the flood season.
