During a media discussion following the launch event for the new five-seat version of the 蔚来ES8, NIO's founder, Chairman, and CEO William Li, along with co-founder and President Qin Lihong, addressed questions from the press.
When the topic of rising storage costs was raised, Li stated that due to increasing raw material prices, the production cost for each 蔚来ES8 vehicle has risen by nearly 20,000 yuan. He noted that, in principle, the selling price would need to increase by 30,000 yuan to fully cover this cost, creating significant pressure.
He explained that 蔚来 is collaborating with its supply chain partners to explore solutions, aiming to hedge a portion of the cost increase and strive to maintain stable pricing. Furthermore, he mentioned that the 蔚来ES8 still maintains a certain gross profit margin, allowing the company to absorb some of the additional costs internally. "In the short term, this is still within our capacity to manage," he said.
