JD.com's food delivery service has completed its first full year of operation. In an open letter, the company reviewed key milestones from the past year and disclosed core performance metrics, including achieving over 15% market share. Future plans were also outlined, with a goal to capture more than 30% of the food delivery market by 2026. The strategy includes a nationwide expansion of in-store pickup and group buying services, with a major focus on the Qixian Kitchen format.
The open letter highlighted JD.com's efforts to establish quality standards over the past year, having rejected one million substandard or unqualified restaurants to drive upgrades in food safety and quality across the industry.
By 2025, the service had attracted over 240 million users who placed orders. On the merchant side, policies such as the "Zero Commission Recruitment" initiative launched in 2025 and a long-term commission cap of no more than 5% are designed to lower operating costs and encourage investment in improving food quality. For delivery riders, JD.com provides full social security and housing fund contributions for all full-time riders. Over the past year, 150,000 full-time riders joined the platform, and the company plans to invest 22 billion yuan over the next five years to enhance welfare and facilities for frontline employees.
Looking ahead, JD.com aims to expand from simple food delivery to a broader multi-scenario dining ecosystem. In 2026, it will heavily promote the innovative Qixian Kitchen model, with plans to complete its rollout in all first- and second-tier cities by the end of that year. According to official data, a typical Qixian Kitchen location processes over 500 orders per day within three months of opening and helps increase customer traffic and growth for surrounding restaurants. With accelerated expansion, JD.com targets a 30% share of the food delivery market by 2026.
Additionally, the open letter announced that JD.com will roll out in-store pickup and group buying services nationwide in 2026, initially covering one million quality dining merchants to help drive footfall and increase store revenue.
