XPeng MONA Product Manager Apologizes Over "Old Fart" Remarks That Sparked Controversy

Deep News10-23

XPeng Group's MONA product manager, Enta, recently posted a video on social media to apologize for previous remarks involving the term "old fart" made at the MONA L05 pre-sale launch event, according to a midday report on October 23.

On October 15, XPeng Inc. (NYSE: XPEV), also known as XPeng Group-W (HKEX: 09868), held the MONA L05 pre-sale launch event. During the event, the post-2000s product manager Enta repeatedly used the term "old fart," and the related remarks sparked controversy.

In the apology video, Enta explained that the term "old fart" is a word frequently used for joking within the team. "We also often use this word, and no one really felt there was anything wrong with it — we just assumed it was simply a joke," she said.

She also stated: "Of course, I didn't realize that this word, when used in a public setting, would make people feel uncomfortable. Maybe I thought it was just a joke, but in front of friends who don't know us well, it might sound like something completely different. I sincerely and earnestly apologize to everyone."
