Strategy Divests Bitcoin Holdings for First Time Since 2022

Deep News03:15

According to a filing on Monday, Strategy (STRF) sold $2.5 million worth of Bitcoin last week. The company's stock price fell more than 6%, while Bitcoin declined 2% to its lowest level since April 13.

This marks only the second time in Strategy's history that it has sold Bitcoin, coming shortly after the company announced it was abandoning the long-held "never sell" strategy championed by its leadership in favor of a more active approach to managing its balance sheet. The new strategy includes the potential to sell Bitcoin in cases where doing so could improve the Bitcoin-per-share metric, fund dividend payments, or strengthen the company's overall financial position.
